Ribbon cutting for the first EnergyStar modular home developed by Neighborhood Housing Services of Toledo, Building America and Rebuild America programs, Building Science Corporation, Ohio Department of Development's Office of Energy Efficiency, Randal Homes, McPartland Construction, the City of Toledo's Department of Neighborhoods, the Toledo Energy Star Alliance, Fifth Third Bank and Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation was held on June 7, 1999. The home includes an insulated basement, advanced framing, controlled mechanical ventilation, insulating sheathing and a combination heating and hot water system. Estimated energy costs for heating and hot water are less than $250 per year.
