CareersBSC Staff WriterThe primary task for the BSC Staff Writer will be to develop content for buildingscience.com. The Staff Writer will develop new documents for a number of already established online series: Building Science Digests, Building Science Insights, Case Studies, Research Reports, Letters and Commentaries, Primers, Glossary entries, and external links (with annotations). Examples of all of these documents can be found at www.buildingscience.com/search-by-list. BSC senior technical staff will author some of these documents and the Staff Writer assist as an editor and co-ordinator. Another source of material for the website will be a very large collection of reports and papers from BSC’s consulting work that will be developed into “best advice” or “best practice” recommendations. Many existing documents will be “refurbished;” some new documents will be created using our "live" resources by writing articles based on presentations or projects, or by recording and reporting on interviews with staff members. The Staff Writer will be expected to develop a writing style supportive of BSC’s commitment to objective, high-quality information. In addition, many website documents targeted at a general audience—which includes construction industry professionals, building owners, and building users—will require another informational or familiar writing style. Secondary tasks will include support for other BSC company activities. For Building Science Press, there will be an important editorial role in new book production working with internal and external authors. BSC also have a small but regular need for company press releases, staff bios, company promotional material, proposals, general website text.
