Twenty town homes, sixteen three-story units and four two-story slab on grade units, make up the EcoVillage Town Homes, a multi-family development in the EcoVillage Cleveland project. Replacing 4 dilapidated single-family homes, the new town homes provide affordable and energy-efficient housing located only a 5-minute walk from an existing and recently renovated light rail station and steps from multiple bus routes. Front porches and lower patios highlight the pedestrianfriendly streetscape while the detached garages, located in the rear of the building, de-emphasize the use of cars. A photovoltaic (PV) array located on the rooftop of the garages generates electricity for the units, further increasing the energy savings achieved, 30% reduction compared to a 2002 code built multi-family unit, through the use of a high performance enclosure and high efficiency mechanical system.
